Kitting out hi-viss: what actually matters
Where the work happens
Roadside, rail, plant yards and anywhere vehicles and people share ground. Visibility is a requirement rather than a preference, and the garment is doing a safety job as well as a branding one.
Who you are kitting out
Highways, traffic management, groundworks and anyone banksman-ing on site. Requirements often come from the client or principal contractor rather than from you.
Which garments earn their place
Hi-vis polos and vests for summer, hi-vis bombers and trousers for winter. Class requirements usually come from the site rather than the trade, so check before ordering rather than after.
Embroidery or print
Print, sitting flat and adding no weight. Our hi-vis is certified to EN ISO 20471, and logos go on clear of the retroreflective bands and the fluorescent area so the garment still does its job.
Summer and winter
The most seasonal kit we supply. Summer is polos and vests; winter is a lined bomber, and nobody thanks you for ordering it in December.
Mistakes we see on hi-vis orders
- Assuming all hi-vis is the same class. The site specifies it, and getting it wrong means people sent off site.
- Washing hi-vis with everything else. The banding degrades with laundering, which is what ends its working life.
- Buying one vest per person when they live in vans and cabs and go missing weekly.

Is every garment in these bundles certified?
Yes — every hi-vis item is EN ISO 20471 rated, and we place logos so certification is never voided. Class ratings are listed per garment.
Do you do orange for rail work?
Yes — every hi-vis garment comes in rail-spec orange as well as yellow. Choose the colour at order time, same price.
Can we mix yellow and orange in one team?
Yes — same bundle, same per-head price, colour chosen per person. Common for firms working both highways and rail.
