Kitting out scaffolders: what actually matters
Where the work happens
Outdoors, at height, in weather nobody else works in. Constant abrasion from tube and fittings, and the clothing gets dragged across steel all day. Hard on shoulders and forearms in particular.
Who you are kitting out
Squads of three or four. Everybody wears the same, and everybody needs hi-vis rather than one person in it.
Which garments earn their place
Hi-vis polos as the base layer so the visibility is on the garment rather than a vest that comes off. Hi-vis trousers where the site requires them. A hi-vis bomber for winter, and a beanie, because scaffolders work in weather that stops other trades.
Embroidery or print
Print, almost always. It sits flat and adds no weight. The hi-vis we supply is certified to EN ISO 20471, and logos are placed clear of the retroreflective bands so the garment still does its job.
Summer and winter
Winter kit is not optional in this trade, it is retention. The firms that lose people in January are the ones who did not buy a proper jacket in September.
Mistakes we see on scaffolder orders
- Buying standard polos and relying on a vest. It comes off, and then nobody is in hi-vis.
- Treating hi-vis as a garment that lasts a year. It is governed by wash count, not the calendar.
- Ordering a single size run for a squad who are not built alike.
Scaffolder kit questions
Is the hi-vis certified for site work?
Yes — vests, polos and bombers all carry EN ISO 20471 certification, and logo placement is chosen so it never voids the cert.
Do the trousers work with harnesses?
The work trousers in Trade and Premium tiers are cut to sit comfortably under a full-body harness — no bunching at the hips.
Can we get extra vests only?
Yes — once you've ordered a bundle, add-on garments are available at the same decorated price, no minimums.
